Thanksgiving is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate the year than an intimate outdoor picnic with your closest friends or family members. I’ve gotten creative and styled my own Friendsgiving set-ups to inspire you to style your own fall picnic. Check out some of my favorite ideas below!

CREATE YOUR OWN FRIENDSGIVING BACKYARD TREEHOUSE TENT
When I was a little girl, ALL I wanted was a treehouse. Sadly, our trees were not big enough, so my mom would always improvise and string up some large drop cloths between trees and the fence to create an XL tent that made me feel like I was in a cozy treehouse! I’ve taken this awesome idea my mom had and put an adult spin on it for Friendsgiving by adding string lights, comfy Moroccan rugs and pillows, rattan lanterns, chic table decor rentals from Social Studies, and a record player for some tunes!
TAKE YOUR FRIENDSGIVING PICNIC TO YOUR FAVORITE PARK
Who said Friendsgiving had to be celebrated at home? Bring your friends to your favorite park and create a cute set-up that will be perfect for the ‘gram. All you need is some rugs or blankets, pillows, a table surface and some decor! For the table, you can repurpose wooden wine crates or cargo palettes from a local store. I always use cargo palettes and these are usually free and often thrown out as trash from local grocery stores, hardware stores or warehouses. If you’re in a pinch, simply opt for an XL charcuterie board as the base for your picnic spread.
BRING THE COZY INDOORS OUTDOORS
Have a backyard space, but no dining table outside? Snag any table and chairs or benches you have from the house and bring them outside! This immediately upgrades your Friendsgiving celebration from the norm to one to remember!
Dining al fresco is my favorite, but in the fall it can be chilly! I put down some warm wool moroccan rugs, hung some string lights and lit candles for ambiance. If your fall is cooler than our mild season in Texas, add some cozy blankets and throws and a small chiminea or fire pit next to your set-up to keep warm and add those cozy vibes!
CREATE A BACKYARD MOVIE PICNIC
If you’re a movie-lover like me and my friends, create a cool outdoor movie set-up for your Friendsgiving. To create your movie screen, you can use a flat sheet and tie the corners on your fence or between trees or poles in your backyard or you can invest in a cool backyard movie screen set up and projector combo from Urban Outfitters. One you have the movie set-up, add some warm rugs and pillows for warmth and light up some lanterns or candles.
