Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I am such a sucker for a sweet treat! I don’t usually indulge in a sweets, but this special day is my exception! I love this quick and easy Valentine’s Day recipe for a quick festive treat!
One of my favorite childhood indulgences was a Shirley Temple (virgin, of course)! I had a small obsession with maraschino cherries and they were one of my favorite treats! Maraschino cherries are such a bright red hue which is perfect for Valentine’s Day, so I wanted to create something special with this memory!
Check out my super easy recipe for a Mezzetta Maraschino Cherry Puff Pastry Strudel to elevate your Valentine’s Day brunch with a heart-shaped breakfast treat below! This is not your average frozen toaster pastry, but it is just as easy and tastes SO much better.

This recipe only takes TWO simple ingredients. The maraschino cherries make the puff pastry strudel slightly sweet without being too overwhelming! If you want to add some extra festive sugar, grab some sprinkles and icing to decorate!
- Puff Pastry Sheets (defrosted)
- Mezzetta Maraschino Cherries
- Sprinkles & Icing to decorate (optional!)
VALENTINE’S DAY RECIPE: MARASCHINO CHERRY PUFF PASTRY STRUDEL
To create your own Maraschino Cherry Puff Pastry Strudel, follow these easy steps!
- Simply preheat the oven to 400 F and roll out the puff pastry to a thin layer
- Use a heart cookie cutter to create hearts in the dough
- Place the hearts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You can either pinch the edges of the heart and add 1 tbsp of maraschino cherries to the center of the puff pastry (Option 1) OR you can create a filled strudel by using two heart puff pastries (Option 2)
- (Option 2) To create a filled strudel, add 1 tbsp of maraschino cherries to the center of a heart. Layer another heart on top and pinch the edges around the two layers to seal the strudel inside
- Bake for 10-15 minutes until slightly browned depending on the size of your strudels.
- Let cool and decorate with sprinkles and icing, enjoy!
