POSITANO
It is no doubt that Positano is the highlight of any Amalfi Coast trip. This town is picture-perfect and the ultimate escape from reality! You truly step back in time to La Dolce Vita when you’re in Positano and it is every bit as beautiful in person as it is in photos! If you’re planning a trip to the Amalfi Coast, Positano is a must-see destination and I’ve lined up my favorite spots in this town below to help guide your trip.
THE POSITANO SPIAGGIA
The icon. The view from the spiaggia aka the beach is the most famous view in Positano. Start your morning here and spend the whole day soaking in the views, swimming in the Mediterranean and enjoying an Apérol Spritz or two!
The Positano Beach is beautiful in the mornings, daytime and evenings, so make sure to check out the beach empty in the mornings and evenings and get some sun with the crowds during the daytime! We especially loved the evening lights on the beach and took some beautiful photos when the crowds cleared out for the day!
LE SIRENUSE HOTEL
It does not get more luxurious than a stay at Le Sirenuse. This hotel is one of the top destinations on the Amalfi Coast: the views are incomparable, the pool is heavenly and the food & drinks are sublime! If you can’t opt for a stay, make sure to check out their bar and restaurant and snap a view from the lobby balcony.
VIA CRISTOFORO COLOMBO
This street is one of the main roads in Positano where you will spend a lot of your time exploring. If you walk along this street down towards Albergo California Hotel, you will find some of the most beautiful views along the sidewalk.
FROM THE SEA
Take a boat out for the day from the docks of Positano and explore the Amalfi Coast. The best way to see this area is from the sea! We did a sunset cruise with Blue Star Positano and absolutely loved our experience! The cruise departs from Positano along the coast to a few swimming spots with snacks and drinks!
WANDER THE WINDING ALLEYWAYS
Positano is full of hidden alleyways that climb through the different levels of the town. This alleyway is located near Villa La Tartana and Villa Giusy and climbs up to Le Sirenuse.
Another one of my favorite alleyways faces the opposite direction with a view of the Le Sirenuse from afar. This location is a staircase next to Maison Zara Positano.
LA SCOGLIERA BEACH CLUB POSITANO
La Scogliera Beach Resort is a beautiful beach club located right next to the main Positano Spiaggia. If you would like a more private beach club experience, rent chairs here for the day.
IL SAN PIETRO DI POSITANO HOTEL
Plan a stay or grab a drink at the Il San Pietro di Positano Hotel. Their Peach Bellinis are the best, plus you get to enjoy them with a gorgeous backdrop!
THE AMALFI COAST DRIVE
This is the main road that takes you from town to town along the Amalfi Coast. The views are jaw-dropping and I cannot recommend a drive along here enough! We loved renting a vintage car photo tour here with Positano Vintage Dream for a couple of hours! They do pick-ups from Positano or Praiano and take you to some of the most beautiful view points of Positano.
One of my other favorite spots with a full view of the Positano Coast is near the Villa Tre Ville entrance, pictured below. There are typically a few vintage fiats parked here for to snap a quick photo if you don’t decide to opt for a vintage car tour!
VILLA FIORENTINO POSITANO
High above Positano lies the Villa Fiorentino. If you want to escape from the Positano crowds, this villa is the place for you! If you have other accommodations planned, book a service at their spa and enjoy their private glass jacuzzi.
THE FRUIT STANDS
The fruit stands in Positano are perfectly prepped and full of colors from the fresh Mediterranean fruits and veggies. My favorite fruit stands are located along the Amalfi Coast Drive. Exact location here near Il San Pietro di Positano and in the center of town at Piazza dei Mulini.
VILLA TREVILLE
Villa Tre Ville is the epitome of Positano luxury. The property is at the most stunning location and every detail is perfect. Book a stay here or simply enjoy lunch or dinner at their restaurant overlooking the coast.
VIA DEL SARACINO
This road leads up to the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption and has the cutest pink corner! For the blush color-obsessed, you will appreciate this spot.
THE POTTERY SHOPS
Italian pottery is intricately detailed with glorious colors and prints. Many of the shops here do not allow you to take photos of the pottery. However, you can find this spot located near Via Trara Genoino that has their beautiful pottery displayed outdoors.
ARIENZO BEACH CLUB
Escape the main town for the day and take a boat ride over to the secluded Arienzo Beach Club. You will need to book your chairs here in advance. They can come pick you up at the main dock in Positano, then you stay all day for lunch and drinks!
CAPRI
Capri was my favorite destination along the Amalfi Coast. This island is a celebrity hot-spot and the atmosphere is absolute magic. Take the time to spend a few days here or take a day trip from one of the other Amalfi Coast towns! The landscape in Capri is like no other with rugged cliffs and rock formations, turquoise blue water, and a charming town with amazing restaurants, shops and hotels. Check out my some of my favorite spots in Capri below!
FROM THE SEA
The best way to experience Capri is from the sea. Charter a private boat tour and explore the coast’s many lagoons and secluded beaches. Be sure not to miss a ride through the Grotta Azzurra and the natural stone archway at Il Faraglioni.
LA FONTELINA BEACH CLUB
La Fontelina is the most famous beach club in Capri. Located near the Il Faraglioni, it has some of the best views of the Marina Piccola. This luxe beach club is an experience in itself, so be sure to book your chairs in advance. Once you arrive, have a superb lunch at their restaurant after soaking up some sun in your lounger!
BELVEDERE TRAGARA & THE GARDENS OF AUGUSTUS
Both of these locations are perched on the cliffside with the most stunning views of the island below. They require a bit of a hike to get to, but you won’t want to miss these incredible spots!
AMALFI
This is the town where the Amalfi Coast gets it’s name from. If you’re traveling along the coast, a day trip to Amalfi is more than enough to experience this cute beach town.

THE AMALFI BEACH
The beach in Amalfi is the central feature of the town. There are a few different spots you can rent beach chair from or grab a drink at along the beach for a day in the sun.
THE AMALFI MARINA
Located right next to the town and the beach is the marina. I recommend walking to the end of the pier for the best views of the town.
BELVEDERE CIMITERO MONUMENTALE
I know what you’re thinking, why is a cemetery on here? The walk leading up to the cemetery has the best viewpoint overlooking the town of Amalfi from above. Take a hike early in the morning through the winding streets of Amalfi to get to this spot before it’s too hot out.
THE AMALFI CATHEDRAL
The cathedral in the center of town is truly a masterpiece! The medieval facade is ornately decorated and the inside is even more impressive.
ATRANI
This sleepy coastal town is the smallest town in southern Italy, and it’s located just a 10-15 minute walk from nearby Amalfi. This spot is often forgotten by tourists which is what makes it so great! For a true Amalfi Coast experience without the tourist traps, take a day trip to the quaint town of Atrani and spend time enjoying the slow pace of small town life here.
Check out my Atrani Travel Tips
THE ATRANI BEACH
In my opinion, the Atrani beach is one of the most picturesque. The perfectly pastel pink-hued town sits right above the small beach, giving you all of that old world charm of what the Amalfi Coast used to be before tourism began. Renting chairs here is less expensive than the other Amalfi Coast beaches, so this is a great spot if you’re looking for a beach day.
LE ARCATE RESTAURANT
Located right next to the beach, Le Arcate Restaurant is a marvelous hole-in-the-wall restaurant serving up delicious local favorites with a view!
EXPLORE THE TOWN’S PASSAGEWAYS
The town of Atrani is only 0.12 km², so you can explore it pretty quickly! I loved getting lost in the passageways and finding beautiful hidden spots like this one.
PRAIANO
Praiano is Positano’s neighbor and is a great place for a day trip or to make as your home base for your Amalfi Coast Itinerary because it is located fairly central among the different coastal towns. This town offers unique beaches and amazing views of Positano in the distance!
ONE FIRE BEACH CLUB
This beach club was my favorite on the trip because the music playlist is on point, the food and drinks are fantastic and you get amazing seaside views of Positano from afar. One Fire is a bit secluded, so you can either hike down to it from Praiano or you can access it by boat. Make sure to reserve your chairs in advance for a spot!
FIORDO DI FURORE
The Fiordo di Furore is not a part of Praiano, but Praiano is one of the largest towns nearby. The Fiordo di Furore is an extremely unique beach set in a cove beneath a bridge of the Amalfi Coast Drive. This spot is extremely picturesque and a good escape from the towns if you’re up for a hike down to it. When I visited, the beach was closed due to falling rocks, so make sure to check on this with locals before you begin your journey here!
Now that you know all of my favorite spots, I hope that you find this guide useful to planning your perfect (& extra-instagrammable) Amalfi Coast trip!
