I’m sure that Bali is already on your bucket-list, but if you need some more convincing, I’ve gathered my favorite spots in Uluwatu to show you what this laid-back surf haven has to offer! Uluwatu is equally as charming as the more popular surf town spots in Canggu and Seminyak, but with less crowds, a gorgeous rugged coastline, out-of-this-world hotels and a handful the best beach clubs on the island.
Located in the south western area of the Bukit Peninsula in Bali, Uluwatu is a quick 45 minute drive from the Bali airport and a great addition to your Bali itinerary.

Let’s check out my favorite things to do, places to stay, and where to eat and drink in Uluwatu!
WHAT TO DO IN ULUWATU, BALI
Uluwatu might be known for it’s surfing, but this area is so much more than that! The coast is beautiful and there are plenty of beaches and viewpoints to explore.
SURF & STAY FOR SUNSET SULUBAN BEACH
Suluban Beach is one of the most popular surf beaches in Uluwatu and rightly so! This beach is one of the most unique in Bali, hidden by limestone rock formations that create caves on the beach. The landscape is dramatic and the waves are too!
If you’re looking for one of the best sunsets in Bali, this is a top spot! The sunset here is gorgeous shades of pink and purple and it is one that I will never forget! To access the beach, follow a trail of steps down that wind through narrow passageways in the limestone caves.
ENJOY A FLOATING BREAKFAST AT THE EDGE BALI
The Edge is one of the most iconic destinations in all of Bali. Perched atop the cliffs, this glass-bottom infinity pool looks directly down on the the crashing waves below. It is truly a bucket-list experience and one that I cannot recommend enough! If you’re up for treating yourself to a luxury hotel stay, book a room at The Edge . We had an incredible floating breakfast in the infinity pool.
If you can’t opt for a stay at The Edge, check out their Spa & Breakfast packages for outside guests. This offer comes with a floating breakfast and a spa treatment for two! Be sure to book in advance because reservations fill quickly. The offer is around $57 USD per person, but prices vary depending on the season.
While you’re visiting The Edge, don’t forget to check out their other pool! The lagoon at The Edge looks like a tropical paradise in the jungle, but it’s actually a pool that you can swim in!
VISIT THE ULUWATU TEMPLE
The Uluwatu Temple is a sea temple set atop the cliff edge in Uluwatu. This temple is unique because of it’s location and it offers some of the best views of the Indian Ocean. If you look closely in the photo below at Karang Boma you can see the temple located on the tip of the cliff in the background! Be sure to visit the temple for a closer look at this spiritual beauty.
TAKE IN THE BEST VIEW AT KARANG BOMA CLIFF
Get ready to have your breath taken away at Karang Boma Cliff. Another hidden gem found in Uluwatu, Karang Boma is a popular viewpoint to watch the sunset and the waves crash onto the Uluwatu coast. No hiking is required and it’s an easy walk from the parking area. It is located on private property so be prepared to pay a 10,000 IDR entrance fee (less than $1 USD).
CHECK OUT BALANGAN BEACH
Balangan Beach is a beautiful strip of golden sand located between two limestone cliffs. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali, especially as seen from above on the cliffs! Check out the cliff located on the left of the beach, Tebing Pantai Balagnan for the best view.
SPEND THE DAY AT BINGIN BEACH
Bingin Beach is one of Bali’s most popular surf beaches. The waves here are great and the beach is hidden behind a limestone cliff. It’s a beautiful stretch of beach to enjoy even if you aren’t a surfer!
WHERE TO STAY
Uluwatu has some of the most instagrammable places to stay in all of Bali. Between cliff views and jungle escapes, Uluwatu is full of secret hidden gems for a memorable stay!
BOHO BALI
Boho Bali was one of my favorite easy stays in Bali. This hotel has three different properties in Bali, located at Bingin Beach, Dreamland Hills and Canggu.
The property is boho-inspired and has cute corners to relax on a hammock, enjoy your smoothie bowl or relax at the pool. Rooms at Boho Bali are reasonably priced and it’s a great place to relax from a long day of adventure.
I stayed at both properties located in Uluwatu, Boho Bingin Beach and Boho Hills Dreamland, each of which provided a unique experience! I loved the Bingin location because of it’s proximity to the beach and the town. The Hills Dreamland location was much more secluded in the jungle!
DREAMSEA SURF CAMP
Dreamsea Surf Camp is a dreamy beach-front property with a gorgeous bohemian-inspired interior and an epic list of activities you can enjoy! You can learn how to surf, take yoga lessons, enjoy delicious food and take all of the photos for the ‘gram with their oh-so-aesthetic interior.
SAL SECRET SPOT
Sal Secret Spot is another of my favorites in Bali. This hidden gem has beautifully designed bungalows, a lush garden, unique pool and a cute cafe to enjoy fresh food and drinks all day long.
Sal Secret Spot is in a great central location nearby the beach, surf spots, restaurants and shops in town!
GRAVITY BALI HOTEL
Gravity Bali Hotel has one of the dreamiest pool views in Bali. With stylish bungalows, a beautiful boho interior design and a pool with a view overlooking the coast, this boutique hotel is one to add to the list of places to stay in Bali!
WHERE TO EAT & DRINK
Like Canggu and Seminyak, Uluwatu is a surf town with a lot of delicious food and flavor, plus some amazing beach clubs to add to your list! The dining in Uluwatu did not disappoint and there are many options for vegan fare, healthy food or comfort food favorites!
ULU CLIFF HOUSE
Ulu Cliffhouse was my favorite day club in Bali. They offer a day entry to the club, housed with a pool, a bar and a restaurant with delicious pool-side eats.
The vibe at Ulu Cliffhouse is laid-back and more grown-up than other day clubs I’ve been to in the past. It is also perched on a dramatic cliff with incredible views of the ocean below, so if you’re into a relaxing escape with a view, look no further!
MANU ULUWATU
Manu Uluwatu is a Latin-inspired restaurant suspended over the jungle that overlooks a picturesque view of the Uluwatu Surf Villas, with the coastline in the distance. The fresh burritos, tacos and bowls hit the spot and the cocktails did not disappoint! You can also opt to visit the pool at Manu even if you aren’t a guest at the property.
SINGLE FIN BALI
Single Fin Bali is one of my favorite spots to hang out in Bali! It is a relaxed surf bar, with some of the most amazing views and absolutely delicious food and cocktails. Single Fin is set atop the cliffs overlooking Uluwatu’s most famous surf break and it hosts both international DJ’s and surfers alike.
THE CASHEW TREE COLLECTIVE
The Cashew Tree Collective has amazing healthy food with both vegan and vegetarian options. There is a great outdoor ambiance with a laidback vibe and plenty of options to choose from for juice, healthy bowls, burgers, and deserts!
NALU BOWLS BUKIT
You can’t travel to Bali without trying a smoothie bowl from Nalu Bowls. This insta-famous smoothie bowl shop has different locations across Bali and has some of the best healthy eats!
Their patio area in Bukit is a great place to hangout with friends or get some work done if you are working remotely!
THE LOFT BALI
The Loft Bali is a cozy cafe that makes you feel right at home. They have all of the best comfort foods you love and healthy options too! It’s a great spot to chill out after a long day or to set-up your laptop and work.
SAVAYA BALI
Formerly the Omnia Day Club Bali, Savaya Bali has taken over the iconic space on the cliff’s edge. The Savaya has a beautiful pool and great Dj’s and is a great place to let loose if you’re looking for a club atomsphere.
SUNDAY’S BEACH CLUB
Sunday’s is another great day club in Bali located right on the beach! This spot is super laidback, with great music, delicious eats and of course a selection of amazing drinks to enjoy!
Ready to plan your future trip to Bali and add Uluwatu to the list? I hope this guide helps you find some amazing new spots to check out and inspire your travels to one of my favorite corners of Bali!
