If you are traveling to Palm Beach, Florida, you know that this destination is all about style. Planning the trip is the easy part; finding the right outfits to wear is much more difficult! Palm Beach is certainly not your typical beach town where jean shorts and rubber flip-flops are the norm – people tend to dress to impress here! It was a challenge for me to upgrade my typical beach wardrobe with chic, resort-wear pieces that I can wear again and again on other trips.
I’ve gathered my favorite finds and some styling tips for you in this packing guide to help plan your beachside wardrobe!
STRIPES
A classic beach print that can come in any shape, size or form. Stripes are timeless, but they can sometimes look a bit too prep-school. Pick a modern shape or a fun color to update this staple.
PALM PRINT
The name says it all. You’re in Palm Beach, so it’s time to pull out the palm print. This bold print can be found just about everywhere in this town. Personally, I’m a risk taker when it comes to prints, so I was super excited to pull out some pieces for this! Even if you are a more demure dresser, there are so many variations on palm print nowadays that you are sure to find a more minimal print to suit your personal style!
STRAPPY SANDALS
Shoes are a small obsession of mine and right now, I’m all about strappy sandals. Firstly, they are pretty to look at and secondly, they can also be practical. I tend to feel that strappy sandals are more comfortable because A. they provide some support to your arch and B. secure to your foot, unlike flip flops which usually provide no support or security. With that being said, you need to find a quality pair that will be comfortable throughout the day (…but I’m not going to lie- I’m also guilty of buying a pretty pair to just wear out for dinner or drinks where I won’t be doing a ton of walking!)
STRAW ACCESSORIES
Straw pieces have been a trendy summer staple for awhile now and they will ALWAYS be a beach classic. I pretty much live in my straw hats and bags in the warmer months. Adding a straw piece to your outfit instantly makes it more chic…Channel your inner Jane Birkin and carry that basket bag, girl!
COLORFUL PRINTS
If you’ve read my Weekend Getaway Guide to Palm Beach, you will know that the iconic resort-wear brand, Lilly Pulitzer, was born here in Palm Beach. Lilly’s bold, colorful prints helped define modern, American resort-wear and are characteristic of timeless Palm Beach style. This is your chance to take a risk and wear that fun print you’ve been wanting to try out!
PASTELS
If you’ve seen my Instagram, you know that I am a pastel QUEEN. Pastel pieces have been consistently on trend the past couple of years, so there is a lot of variety to choose from! Right now, I’m loving pastel peach, yellow and lavender pieces.
ALL WHITE
Did someone say there’s a White Party? …Jokes aside, an all-white look is always a beachside classic. Most of my wardrobe consists of white clothing because I know that I can wear the pieces over and over again and also mix them up with different colors or prints. This is super useful when I travel because it allows me to create new outfits without packing more pieces.
